FAKE NEWS- REDACTION
4.
This stage will be a follow up to my stage 3 and shows the difference between the power of protest that often empower the voices of people against humanitarian abuses compared to how fake news can silence these voices by portraying misleading content to demonstrate one side as guilty and the other as innocent. Fake news is everywhere and often silences people's opinions as they don't know what to believe
This stage will consist of the art of redaction. I will be redacting fake news to show how the misleading information should be blocked from influecing the viewers opinions. The contrast between stage 3 which highlights the power of the voice that the victims do not have and stage 4 which silences fake news demonstrates how society does have the power to reject the messages portrayed by media.
REDACTION
DEVELOPMENTS INSPIRED BY TITUS KAPHAR AND IDRIS KHAN
Here I used the work of Titus Kaphar as inspiration. Kaphar's redaction series consisted of him sketching out incarcerated individuals and used redaction to craft verses out of legal documents. I used his technique as inspiration and incorporated it with Idris Khan's work on the Quran. My developments include sketches of Palestinian and Afghan people drawn by myself, and on top layered verses from the Quran, some handwritten by myself and some using transfer techniques. The verses are all about injustice towards mankind and how God does not condone this behaviour, in any circumstances.
